Who  are we

 

We are African Human trafficking survivor leaders working together with a common goal to eradicate all forms of human trafficking in Africa, advocate for justice and victims' rights, and restoration.

Mission

To amplify African survivor leaders' voices in Regional and global Anti-human trafficking interventions.

Objective 

To create collaborative spaces with survivor leaders across Africa to build momentum and sustainability for survivor-led anti-human trafficking response work.

By highlighting the voices of survivors of human trafficking, we aim to:

  • Amplify African survivor narrative on human trafficking response
  • Demonstrate  survivor leaders' multidimensionality
  • Destigmatize the discussion around a survivor of human trafficking
  • contextualize effective solutions to tackle human trafficking and its aftermath
  • engage Empowers and equips survivors as leaders
  • Meets with local, national, and global leaders to speak about policy, programs, and decisions
  • Ensure  Member state's laws, policies, and administrative regulations comply with international human rights standards in the area of human trafficking

 

Malaika Oringo, director for the development African survivor coalition.

My name is Malaika Maria Oringo, an international survivor advocate and the Founding Director of Footprint to Freedom, a  survivor-led organization working to break the cycle of human trafficking in Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, and the Netherlands .https://www.footprinttofreedom.org/ and the Director of Development African survivor coalition. I work with The Salvation Army as The Global Survivor Inclusion and Engagement Specialist. I speak against human trafficking, Gender-based violence and promote sustainable development goals. As a speaker and campaigner, I have highlighted gaps in European legislation and policy against human trafficking. The Salvation Army EU discussed the dangers of trafficking with Serve the City - Eurodiaconia and the UN General Assembly. General Assembly reaffirms commitment to combat human trafficking | UN News. I serve as a member of the International survivor of human trafficking Advisory Council under the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR). The inclusion of survivors' voices to ensure a human rights-based and survivor-centered approach to combating human trafficking | OSCE, Awarded by child10 and Queen Silvia of Sweden for my commitment to fight child sex trafficking in Europe Child10 Summit 2021 - Child10 and award winner for the MyVoiceForJustice alongside individuals lending their voices to DNAforAfrica's mission to strengthen the criminal justice system through the use of forensic DNA technology. Leadership Coalition  Members

The Leadership Coalition will build and scale up to a whole of  African  informing and leading local groups by representing the  African Survivor Coalition  at regional and international forums, and The Leadership Coalition will be inaugurated on July 30th, 2023. The  Council members are survivors of sexual violence, sex trafficking, labor trafficking and child trafficking and child marriage, and all other forms of human trafficking and modern-day slavery.

Afasi Komla

Mr. Afasi Komla is the director of sub-Saharan Africa at Engage Now Africa, a non-profit organization that operates in several African countries. He is a management committee member of the Commonwealth 8.7 network and is the African representative. Afasi manages the End Modern Slavery program, which focuses on preventing, rescuing, rehabilitating, and prosecuting modern slavery in vulnerable communities. He has a Master's degree in Development Management and a first degree in Operation and Project Management from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration. Grizelda Grootboom

Awah Francisca Mbuli

Awah Francisca Mbuli is the Founder of Survivors' Network (SN), CameroonIAfrica, a female-led NGO leading in the fight against all forms of human trafficking in Cameroon and Sub-Saharan African countries..  Mbuli has a master's degree in Human Rights and Multiculturalism from the Buskerud International University, Norway. She received two International Visitors Leadership Program awards by the U.S Department of State in 2018 and 2020 for combatting trafficking in persons. She is an Ashoka Fellow 2022 from Anglophone West Africa and was awarded the Elkes Impact Award by the Global Freedom Forum organized by Free the Slaves where she has served as an ambassador for two years. Mbul is also a Mo Ibrahim Foundation Now Generation Fellow and Obama Africa Leader.

Has experienced force, fraud, or coercion in any form of labor, including the sex trades or other criminalized economies;

Was commercially sexually exploited as a child or Engaged in commercial sex while a minor
